Annihilation Transformation! reinterprets Sailor Moon, one of the most iconic metamorphosis scenes, Distorting the footage transforming this familiar moment of teenage empowerment into something uncanny and melancholic. A soundtrack reminiscent of an eerie amusement park accompanies the endless loop.

The work reflects on the decay of analogue teenage memory as it is worn down through repetition and absorbed into an ever-expanding stream of digital images. Serena’s transformation once intimate, powerful and tied to the rituals of girlhood  becomes a spectacle of endless consumption.
